On a personal note…
One week ago, I was unable to do anything but scroll in horror on my social media feeds at photos and videos of flood devastation.
At the time, cell phone towers were down, 911 was down, and no calls or texts could get in or out.
Multiple towns in central West Virigina got hit hard by the flash floods. We now know it was 5.85 inches of water falling in just 30 minutes!
Needless to say, I was beside myself with worry until I finally heard from my family members.
We were lucky. All my loved ones are alive and accounted for. A few suffered some flood damage to their homes, and a few possessions (and sheds) were carried off by the flood.
But they’re alive.
Other families weren’t so lucky.
And a lot of people who lost their homes had no flood insurance. Other families were lucky their houses were on high ground, but they lost other possessions to the flood. Many were trapped at work when it happened, and their cars and everything inside floated away or were ruined.
